Installation
Installing natural stone in your house is a craft — one best entrusted to a professional. To ensure your stone looks and performs beautifully for years to come, we recommend using an experienced stonemason fitter. You’ll find everything you need to know about installation and ongoing care in our detailed installation guides, available [here].
Care and Maintenance
How should I clean natural stone daily? Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner or mild dish soap with warm water. Wipe with a soft cloth and dry to prevent water spots. What cleaning products should I avoid? Avoid vinegar, lemon, bleach, ammonia, abrasive pads, and scouring powders—they can scratch or etch the stone. How do I prevent stains and damage? Wipe spills immediately, especially wine, coffee, citrus, vinegar, and oils. Use coasters, cutting boards, and trivets. Do I need to seal my stone? Yes. Seal marble, limestone, and travertine every 6–12 months; granite and slate every 1–2 years. If water darkens the surface quickly, it’s time to reseal. What about stains? Most stains can be removed with a stone-safe poultice (baking soda or peroxide-based, depending on the stain). Avoid generic stain removers that contain acid. How do I prevent etching? Keep acidic foods and products off the surface and clean up immediately. Even sealed marble can still etch. When should I call a professional? For deep scratches, heavy etching, dull spots, or refinishing, a stone restoration technician can hone and polish the surface back to new.
Sustainability
Natural stone is a highly sustainable building material due to its durability, long life cycle, and minimal processing requirements. Unlike manufactured products, stone is extracted directly from the earth and requires no chemical additives, making it a naturally low-VOC, non-toxic option for healthy indoor environments. Its strength and longevity reduce the need for frequent replacement, lowering long-term environmental impact. Stone can also be reused, repurposed, or recycled at the end of its life, further extending its value. With responsible quarrying practices and efficient transportation planning, natural stone offers an environmentally conscious choice for construction projects seeking timeless beauty and reduced ecological footprint.
