Victoria & Albert Museum – Award-Winning Herringbone Floor Installation

Located in one of London’s most culturally significant areas, the Victoria and Albert Museum is renowned for its dedication to art, design, and history. In 2018, we were honoured to be commissioned to manufacture and install a traditional herringbone wood floor within one of the museum’s rooms, delivering a project that required both technical expertise and historical sensitivity.

Restoring History with Original Materials

What made this project truly unique was the use of original wood blocks, which had been stored in the museum’s basement for years. Carefully preserved and full of character, these blocks were reconditioned and laid in a classic herringbone pattern, paying tribute to the building’s rich architectural legacy.

The warm tones of the timber, paired with the traditional layout, brought a timeless elegance to the interior—blending seamlessly with the museum’s heritage surroundings.

Industry Recognition

This project has since received industry recognition, earning us an award for craftsmanship and restoration. It was also featured in the September issue of Premiere Construction, which told the unique story behind the flooring and its importance within the historical context of the property.
